PocketScan - Handheld laser reader

Attendance and participation at events can now be easily managed using the “PocketScan”, a matchbox-sized device weighing only 28 grams. This small handheld laser barcode reader comes with a simple PC compatible application for data uplift. The device connects to a PC via a USB port, rather like a digital camera, easily enabling data transfer.

PocketScan is supplied with a convenient lanyard and has the capacity to read and store in excess of 3500 transactions between data uplifts. It is rechargeable via the standard USB data cable in less then 2 hours and has an operational use between charges of around 72 hours, depending upon the level of activity.

When uploading the data all that is required is a unique reference for each event. Once the PocketScan file is in the central database, other features can be applied. This may include the award of points for event attendance, or, specific promotions such as a sponsor rewarding attendance or an associated purchase.

The file from the PocketScan also updates the member and event transaction records at the central database. This enables a range of management reports to be generated such as:

  • Who attended an event, or, who didn’t
  • Attendance-by-time graphical display
  • Sponsors’ summary report on participation
  • Filter option for multiple transactions with a single card during data uplift
  • Points award feature

The PocketScan is a cost-effective event management device that can be utilised to reward attendance, engage sponsors and provide comprehensive reporting on all related activity.
