Scotcomms was engaged by LPG in August 2005 to entirely re-design their smart card visitor solution in two phases, the first being for Great British Heritage Pass and the second for London Pass. There were two overlapping project phases; replacement of an existing system, with no disruption to service and the secure issuing of smart cards, uniquely numbered and encoded by an external sales management database.
Phase one for 'Great British Heritage Pass' was delivered against tight timescales on time by January 2006. GBHP has 580 historic sites across the UK at which a range of smart card visitor passes can now be used to access. Online management reports are now available on card usage and visitor statistics.
Phase two, LPG's flagship visitor experience, the "London Pass", was delivered in March 2006 in time for the visitor season. London Pass is now one of the most successful visitor experiences worldwide.
The passes are electronically programmed using Scotcomms’ systems to control variables such as the duration and type of pass. Each attraction has a Scotcomms’ card reading terminal, reporting all data centrally. A comprehensive suite of real-time management reports are available to LPG and their client sites (e.g.: Tower of London etc.)
Both phases of the project came in on time and on budget. Scotcomms is now the key technology partner for LPG. New business won utilising the STG technology platform includes visitor passes for York, Jersey, Stockholm, Paris, New York, and Philadelphia. Further business wins are expected in the future.
"The unprecedented levels of usage reports that we can provide to our clients combined with efficient stock control, provides us with a fantastic solution with which to develop and enhance our client base."
