In August 2010 Scotcomms Technology Group supplied its first client in the Middle East with its flagship membership solution, TeamCard. After an extensive market investigation, TeamCard was selected as the preferred solution to assist the Abu Dhabi based Al Jazira Club achieve the full potential of their membership development strategy.
TeamCard is long established as the benchmark membership solution in the UK. Scotcomms’ TeamCard clients include the Football Association, Chelsea, Celtic, Bolton Wanderers, and The Lawn Tennis Association along with many other high profile sports clubs and organisations. President of the multi-sport Al Jazira Club, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is the owner of Manchester City Football Club. Al Jazira Football Clubs' home ground in Abu Dhabi is the impressive Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed stadium, incorporating a world class hotel, business centre and sports facility.
The initial phase of the project consisted of the provision of TeamCard's membership technology to allow the club to capture and analyse its members' attendance activity. This consisted of supplying the Club with machine-readable cards, laser readers (PocketScan) and a membership database with a full reporting suite.
The scheme will be expanded over the coming season to provide members with specific privileges and rewards to differentiate their status from non-members thereby creating a groundswell within the support to join.
By December 2010 the club was well on its way to achieve its membership target for the first season. Throughout 2011 the scheme will be extended in terms of the members privileges and the technology applications. The objective of this membership initiative is ultimately to identify and retain the clubs supporter base on a commercial and sustainable basis.
